When I first came to Boston, one of the things I noticed immediately was the lack of Japanese Americans in the area. Coming from California and growing up around a very large Japanese American community, I wondered why their roots hadn't deepened as much in Boston and the East Coast. I discovered a declining number in Boston, and dug deeper into why Japanese Americans don't stay in Boston.
